Inspiration. Explanation. Thoughts

New England on Fuego!

I recently entered a t-shirt design contest for District 45, which is New England's Zumba® district. If you're not familiar with Zumba®, it is a dance and fitness program that combines music and rhythms from all over the world. Of course to most people, Zumba® is a "dance class" but it's not! but I won't get into that argument :) Fitness components are added so you can get a fun cardio work out!

Every year, among many other worldwide events, they have the Zumba® Convention, in which thousands on instructors from all over the world gather, and learn new routines, hear about the latest news. It's basically a fitness conference, with a party vibe. With that being said, every district likes to represent themselves by making t-shirts. I decided to submit a few designs and this is the one that won. I wanted to emphasize that New England is on fire!!!!

Turn on the lights!

I recently stumbled upon this mini article that talks about the importance of lighting in the office. Especially if you're a designer! In my career, I've had several office arrangements with different lighting, and now that I think about it, the more "natural" lighting I had, the better, and happier I was. I didn't think much of it at the time, but it's time to turn on the lights :) Check out the full article

Design Disruptors: A documentary from inVision

Design Disruptors is a new documentary I've been wanting to see for a long time. I haven't had any luck with local screenings. Bummer! The documentary covers some of the world's leading tech companies. Started by who? DESIGNERS! It appears that more and more designers are starting to develop user-centric master pieces that lead to success. Hmm I wonder why so many people still don't understand us. :)

Abstract: Netflix and Work.

I stumbled across this Netflix mini series called Abstract. This series of films features designers from different disciplines. From illustrators to car designers. I was blown away and inspired by the stories and content shown in these films. I was so excited that it inspired me to develop the visual concept and theme for fundraising campaign. The campaign was successful :) Thank you Netflix!

Even the Experts Fail

We all take things for granted and we expect more from our Technology. Fortunately a lot of time is saved when working on a project based on the accessibility of the tools we have. Here's a fun clip of Photoshop Experts trying the very first version of Photoshop. It just proves that we're not perfect!
